Pick a smooth, dry and clean surface

The most traditional places include any wall, door, or window.

On a standard painted wall, ensure the wall was primed before painting — otherwise paint or adhesive may come off.

On newly painted surfaces, allow 30 days for outgassing to prevent bubbling.

Pebbly, textured, eggshell, or porous surfaces (brick, cement, stucco) may give poor results.

Clean it before you stick it

Use a warm, damp cloth or sponge to clean the surface and allow it to dry completely.

Make sure all previous cleaning solutions are gone.

You can remove and replace self-adhesive wallpaper multiple times. Once the adhesive collects too much dust, dirt, or fibres, it becomes less effective.

Peel and stick it

Larger wallpapers are easier with two people. Try not to let the adhesive touch itself or fold the material — if it does, carefully pull it apart.

Start at the top and pull down about 25 cm of backing paper. Crease the back of the backing paper, then apply the exposed adhesive to your location.

Reposition as needed. Once aligned, pull the backing down in 20–30 cm increments while smoothing the material.

One person can pull the backing while the other smooths. Use a plastic drywall squeegee for bubbles; peel back and re-apply any problem areas.

Please note: Pressing too hard will not damage the material, but natural oils on your hands may transfer ink to other surfaces.

Advice

If a bubble reappears over the next day or two, press and lightly rub to remove it.

Use a sewing pin to pop stubborn bubbles, then smooth in a circular motion with your fingers.

If bubbles keep reappearing, move your Photo Tex — something on the surface is blocking adhesion. Common causes include paint applied within 30 days or leftover cleaning chemicals.
